Evidence #005
The Missing Photo Copy
Status:Relevant
Location:Kitchen Office
Date Discovered Missing:Approximately one week before the incident
Description
Helen reported that an old photocopy of the school's brownie recipe had previously been stored inside a drawer in the kitchen office.
The photocopy was dicovered to be missing approximatley one week before the original recipe was stolen.
At the time, nobody considered the missing photocopy suspicious.
Initial Observations
- The photocopy was normally kept in the office.
- It was not part of the original recipe folder.
- At the time, no other documents were reported missing.
- There was no record of who last handled the photocopy.
Examination Notes
No physical copy of the document has been recovered.
The school cannot determine exactly when the document disappeared, however, access to the kitchen office during the previous week was limited to kitchen staff and authorised personnel only.
Connection to the Case
The missing photocopy suggests that someone may have been interested in obtaining a copy of the recipe before the original theft.
This means that the incident may have been planned rather than a spontaneous act.
Investigator's Note
The photocopy disappeared days before the original. Consider whether the two incidents could have been connected.
