For almost 20 years, westbrook Academy has been famous for its chocolate brownies.
The brownies are made using an original recipe created by the school's former head chef, Margaret Bell, in 2006. The recipe has been passed between only a handful of kitchen managers and is kept in a locked recipe folder inside the school kitchen.
What Happened?
On Tuesday afternoon, the kitchen staff were preparing for the school's anual open evening. At approximatley 3:42 PM, Kitchen Manager Helen Carter placed the recipe flolder on the kitchen office desk while checking th quantities needed for the following day's baking
At 4:18 PM, Helen returned to the office. The folder was still there, but th recipe inside was gone.
There were no obvious signs that the office had been broken into and only four people were known to have been inside the kitchen area during the relevent time period.
